The Paw Seasons Preventative Health Care Plan for Dogs
Procedures are in place to ensure accommodated dogs are cared for to ensure their good
health and to prevent any health issues arising, and to monitor for any potential health
issues while they are in our care.
Dog Care Action Procedure
1. Valid vaccinations
• All primary vaccinations must have been completed two weeks before daycare
• We only accepted vaccinations licensed for use in the UK
• We do not accept homeopathic vaccinations
Vaccination checks for all animals taken into our care we require a veterinary vaccination
record to ensure dogs have current vaccinations against:
• canine parvovirus
• canine distemper
• canine adenovirus/infectious canine hepatitis
• leptospirosis
Other diseases may be specified if a risk is identified including:
• kennel cough (Bordetella
bronchiseptica/ Canine parainfluenza virus)
Vaccination checks Protective titre test certification from a vet may be accepted instead of a
booster vaccination if the certificate is valid for the period of daycare.
2. Parasite control
We require all dogs have been treated for external and internal parasites in accordance with
veterinary advice before accepting them for daycare.
If evidence of external parasites such as fleas, ticks or lice are found, consent from the
owner is sought for treatment.
Treatment is discussed with our vet and we only use products authorised by the Veterinary
Medicines Directorate and licensed for use in the UK.
3. Health checks
Each dog is checked at least once daily for signs of pain, suffering, injury, disease or
abnormal behaviour.
Vulnerable animals are checked more frequently.

Signs of pain, suffering, injury, disease or abnormal behaviour are recorded.
Where signs of ill health are noted, advice of a vet is sought and followed.
4. Staff
All staff are trained in dog handling to an OFQUAL level 3 standard or greater, and to
monitor animals for any signs of injury or disease.
5. Preventing spread of disease
Isolation of sick/potentially infectious dogs on site in isolation kennels is available for any
sick, injured or potentially infectious dog.

Should no isolation accommodation be available on site, any sick, injured or potentially
infectious dog will be accommodated by our vet, who has provided a letter stating they can
provide facilities.
